A Note from BeamerBall.com Hello Coach's Club members and
all BeamerBall.com fans! We hope you enjoyed our extensive coverage of Spring
Football 2008. We set out this year to provide a great deal of wonderful content,
in updates, photos, and especially BeamerVision videos for all Coach's Club members
to enjoy, and we believe we delivered on that! We also wanted to provide a fair
amount of free content for those who are not members, and provide something neat
and unique, so that's why we held our four free live chats with Coach Beamer,
Dr. John Ballein, Coach Curt Newsome, Coach Bryan Stinespring, and Tyrod Taylor!
We hope you enjoyed those, and we know you'll be thrilled to know we have more
of those planned in the future.
Our extensive coverage of the 2008 VT football
season will be getting underway on or around approximately August 3rd. That's
when the team officially reports for August pre-season camp for preparation for
the 2008 season. Between now, and August 3rd, things will be a bit slower at BeamerBall.com
than usual, in regards to updates, and we wanted to explain some of the reasons
behind that slow down in coverage.
Basically, our motto at BeamerBall.com
is, "When the program is hot (ie. things happening), we're hot (on the coverage
of it)." Unfortunately, the summer off-season is a slow period for the football
program.
May, June, and the majority of July represent the time the football
staff takes family vacations, and for the most part, is not available to BeamerBall.com
for updates. Along those lines, many members of the football team remain in Blacksburg
for Summer Sessions I and II, and work out with Dr. Mike Gentry strictly on a
voluntary basis. No student athlete on the Virginia Tech football team is required
to stay and work out during the summer.
As such with these workouts being
voluntary in nature, the NCAA has ruled Universities and sports programs are not
allowed to publicize and report on the activities. And BeamerBall.com is no exception
to these rules.
So, in general terms, with the staff not available the
majority of the next 60 to 75 days, and with player activities off-limits to us,
that makes for a pretty slow time for this website.
There are several items
over the course of the summer on which we do plan to update, such as: - VHSCA
All-Star Game in Hampton, Virginia, July 11, 2008: A large number of Virginia
Tech football signees from the 2008 class will no doubt participate in this event,
and we'll do our best of have some coverage of it here at BeamerBall.com, as it
applies to our signees.
- 2008 Frank Beamer Ladies Clinic - July,
19, 2008 - We'll do our best to have some fun video and other updates from the
Ladies Clinic
- 2008 ACC Football Media Days - Tentatively scheduled
for July 20-22, 2008: If it is logistically possible for BeamerBall.com to be
at the ACC Media gathering, we'll be there with updates, video and photos.
-
Virginia Tech Football holds two rising-seniors one-day-only football camps during
the summer, and while NCAA rules prohibit us from covering the camps in detail,
we will try to have some general updates of information to the extent it's allowed.
And
there will be other tidbits and nuggets along the way as well.
So, we hope
you have enjoyed the tremendous coverage of Spring football in 2008, and the countdown
is on for an amazing amount of coverage this August, starting around approximately
August 3rd!
We'll see you then, and as always, we here at BeamerBall.com
thank you for your continued support! Go Hokies!
